I love you all! You guys are the best, most badass ladies (and gentlemen?) out there. Thank you for all the support!

Also, I apologize for the lack of activity lately. Busy busy busy. But hey, it’s the weekend, which means… NAIL TIME!

Sun rise, sun set.

What I used:
Nubar– Sunset, Twilight and Midnight (all of which are fabulously matte)

P.S. Busiest week and a half of my life. This is the first time I’ve been able to do my nails in over a week. :( But, it’s all done now, so… nails all the time! :P

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!

It’s not the traditional kelly green, but these are three of my favorite greens! (I swear that gray is greener in person :P )

What I used:
Essie– Sew Psyched
Nubar– Forest and Reclaim

So there’s nothing particularly special about this manicure, except for the fact that this is one of those polishes that I feel the need to show off. Mostly because it is magic in a bottle. Also because it’s apparently the holy grail of nail polishes.

The majestic Clarins 230!

Funny thing is, the only reason that I own this is because my friend’s mom (who is also a polish lover) gave it to me because it was “too wild” for her.

Anyway, it really is a rainbow in a bottle, and it’s very distracting in the sun. I like it a little better over other colors than on its own, which is why it looks so dark. :)

What I used:
Nubar– Cabernet
Clarins– 230

And tomorrow, I’ll have some St Patty’s Day nails for you guys!

Pinwheels!

Rest in peace, my cuticles. :( I don’t know what I did to them, but they’re so angry at me.

Still, some spring nails! It’s been so gray here and I needed something bright and fun on my fingers. :D

What I used:
China Glaze– Peachy Keen
Claire’s– Tiger Lily
Revlon– Minted

So, I don’t know if anyone else had these when they were younger, but back in the day, there was this kiosk at my local mall that sold True Colors eye shadow. They were these little pots of very highly pigmented, super sparkly color that came in stacks of 5, 8 or 12.

Anyway, part of their appeal to me as a young girl was that not only could they be used as eye shadow, but they could be mixed with clear lip gloss or top coat and used as lip/nail color. I was really into them for a while. Of course, a few years later, I didn’t want sparkly eyelids anymore. Heck, I still don’t.

But, I’m certainly not averse to some glitzy nails! So, when I came across these while cleaning out my old makeup drawer, I felt like I’d discovered a whole new collection of nail colors.

They’re a bit difficult to apply and tend to get really chunky if not mixed well with the top coat, but I imagine these would look really great for some sparkly tips or something like that.

As far as I can tell, the individuals don’t have names, but the stacks do.
The stacks I have:

12 stacks– Classic Collection and Earth Collection
8 stacks– Hue 2, American Woman, Gold Digger, Millennium, Diamond Black, Diamond White, Eastside and Westside

The one thing that I am kind of bummed about is that I used to have two glitter 5 stacks, and I have no idea where they are. The glitter was just insanely sparkly and came in some really pretty colors. I’d almost consider trying to find and purchase them again.

If you’re interested in these, by the way, I looked, and it turns out that you can still buy most of these here– True Colors- although they don’t sell the 12 stacks anymore. (boo!)

Anyway, I’m sure you could do this with a lot of eye shadows or pigments that you don’t wear anymore. It probably helps if it’s already powdered, though. :)

It’s text time! Lyrics-inspired text time!

They say “falling bombs or shooting stars” by the way. My hand’s not that steady :(

The song these were inspired by is “IOU” by Metric. The actual lyrics are:

Every ten year old enemy soldier
Thinks falling bombs are shooting stars sometimes
But she doesn’t make wishes on them
When she wishes, she wishes for less ways to wish for
More ways to work toward it
Ten year old enemy soldier
Our falling bombs are her shooting stars

So much love for this song!

What I used:
Rescue Beauty Lounge– No More War
Nubar– Marble Tower
Sally Hansen– Diamonds & Rubies and Yellow Kitty
Hard Candy– Trailer Trash

Are YOU, the reader, looking for a way to spice up that crackle polish that you’re already tired of seeing all the time? Well look no further!

Not really, I’m still kind of in love with shiny new crackle polishes, but it’s fun to mess with them anyway. There are just so many fabulous sheer shades out there, and I think layering one over the crackle can really pull a design together.

Having said that, I don’t know how well you can see the blue shimmer over the white, but I’m telling you, in person, it looks like I’m looking through sparkling water at the cracked ocean floor. Or something like that.

Anyway, try layering over a crackle polish some time and let me know if you find something that looks really cool. :)

What I used:
Sally Hansen– DVD
China Glaze– Lightning Bolt

I got new polishes! Yay!

However, I’m very attached to my current mani, so I thought I’d play with the new colors on some practice nails.

This is Nubar’s Cabernet. I’m not going to lie, I bought it specifically because it looks bloody, and I don’t have a good nail polish blood. I meant to do only one blood nail, but I was having too much fun.

Then I got to all of the other colors. :) If these weren’t all massively wide nails, I would consider wearing them together, which would be ridiculous, but they’re kind of like… I don’t know, different garments from a single fashion collection. In other words, they use the same seven colors.

Anyway, I do kind of want to replicate some of these designs in an actual manicure. You know, once I’m able to part with the one I’ve got now.

What I used:
Nubar– Cabernet, Cozumel Coral, Pharaoh’s Purple, Marble Tower and Taffeta
China Glaze– Wagon Trail and Peachy Keen
a variety of dotting tools

And 150 tiny polish squares later…

Long story short I was messing around with gradients on photoshop because I have no life, and I thought the colors were just so pretty!

Again, apologies for the ridiculously long polish list. A lot of these were mixed, as well. :P

What I used:
10– Moonlight and Spring Awakening
China Glaze– Shower Together and Secret Peri-Wink-Le
Claire’s– Tiger Lily and Neon Pink
Essie– Sew Psyched
Funky Fingers– Pink Flame
N.Y.C.– Polyester Pink Creme
O.P.I.– Samoan Sand
Orly– Retro Red, Old School Orange, Viridian Vinyl and Purple Pleather
Revlon– Minted
Sally Hansen– Yellow Kitty, Boca Mocha and Ruby Sequin
Sephora– Yellow Umbrella and My Favorite Jeans
Sephora by O.P.I.– Havana Dreams, Read My Palm and Caliente Coral
Sinful Colors– Innocent

Ugh, busiest week ever! And not particularly productive either. >:(

Whatever, though. I got new polish! Yay! So, figured I’d try them out. Something basic. :)

What I used:
China Glaze– Classic Camel and Ingrid (love love LOVE both of these colors)
Rescue Beauty Lounge– Medium White (I don’t know why I felt like I needed this. It’s a lovely color, but lord is it a pain in the ass. So sheer.)
Nubar– Stronghold
Orly– Liquid Vinyl

My nails are coming to get you! :B

Anyway, I know this is more of a Halloween thing, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s always a good time to celebrate zombies and blood/guts/braaaiiiinnnss!

I also apologize for the long list of colors.

What I used:
Borghese– Milano Taupe
China Glaze– Secret Peri-Wink-Le and Matte About You
Claire’s– Tiger Lily
Essie– Chinchilly
OPI– Samoan Sand and Off With Her Red
Orly– Liquid Vinyl
Sally Hansen– Boca Mocha and Ruby Sequin
Sephora by OPI– Havana Dreams and In The Shadows
Sinful Colors– Snow Me White

Quick note, a lot of these colors where very clumsily frankenpolished to get the colors I wanted.
