NAILGASM!  #Nubar

Nature at your fingertips.

Once upon a time I was obsessed with miniature terrariums. I thought I’d transfer that idea to my nails. There’s no way I could wear these very long, especially not to work tomorrow. But I’m still having fun looking at them!

CND– Perfectly Bare
Nubar– Swiss Chocolate
OPI– Jade is the New Black
Sand, rocks, reindeer moss and dried flowers

Dragon fruit on acid!
I’ve done fruit nails before, but never on myself. Dragon fruit is obviously the coolest of all fruits, so I thought “Yes! This’ll be perfect for my first fruit manicure!” But then I was mesmerized by all the colors and this ended up being more colorful rings than fruit. Oh well. Some day I’ll do a proper fruit manicure…

Manglaze– Mayonnaise
NARS– Amchoor
OPI– Jade is the New Black and Don’t Touch My Tutu
Nubar– Black Polka Dot
Sinful Colors– Folly, Pink Forever, and Innocent

Since I’ll never own this clock I thought I’d put the design on my nails!

China Glaze– Liquid Leather, Urban-Night, Peachy Keen and For Audrey
Julep– Taylor
OCC– Captain Howdy
Claire’s– Tiger Lily
Nubar– Taffeta
Cult Nails– Tempest
Orly– Pure Petunia
OPI– Off With Her Red!
Zoya– Dahlia
Fine black glitter

Maze nails! I started off wanting them to be actual mazes that you could solve, but then laziness kicked in. :P Maybe some day…

What I used:
OPI– Ginger Bells and Out of This World
Nubar– Taffeta and Swiss Chocolate
Barielle– Aura Angora
SOPI– In the Shadows

These were my Halloween nails last year. I occasionally do special effects makeup, and I wanted to recreate some of the nastier effects on my nails. The results were mixed, but they were definitely pretty gross looking. I actually put flesh latex on my nails, which worked really well for the tearing, but I think it was more trouble than it was worth. I ended up painting over the latex since it’s kind of sheer. I imagine you could get a similar tearing effect by painting on a really thick layer of polish, waiting for it to dry some, and then poking it around with a toothpick or something.

What I used:
flesh latex
tiny half pearls (for the bumps)
CND– Perfectly Bare
Nubar– Cabernet
Illamasqua– Throb
Probably a couple other reds and pinks
A shiny topcoat for the blood and a matte topcoat for the skin.

And just for fun, here’s the makeup I wore on Halloween. I was an evil witch!

It’s springtime! Spring means flowers, of course. And, you know… some dead flowers on the accent nail. :P

What I used:
Nubar– Taffeta and Lime Green Glitter
China Glaze– Wagon Trail
Sally Hansen– Yellow Kitty

Sun rise, sun set.

What I used:
Nubar– Sunset, Twilight and Midnight (all of which are fabulously matte)

P.S. Busiest week and a half of my life. This is the first time I’ve been able to do my nails in over a week. :( But, it’s all done now, so… nails all the time! :P

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!

It’s not the traditional kelly green, but these are three of my favorite greens! (I swear that gray is greener in person :P )

What I used:
Essie– Sew Psyched
Nubar– Forest and Reclaim

So there’s nothing particularly special about this manicure, except for the fact that this is one of those polishes that I feel the need to show off. Mostly because it is magic in a bottle. Also because it’s apparently the holy grail of nail polishes.

The majestic Clarins 230!

Funny thing is, the only reason that I own this is because my friend’s mom (who is also a polish lover) gave it to me because it was “too wild” for her.

Anyway, it really is a rainbow in a bottle, and it’s very distracting in the sun. I like it a little better over other colors than on its own, which is why it looks so dark. :)

What I used:
Nubar– Cabernet
Clarins– 230

And tomorrow, I’ll have some St Patty’s Day nails for you guys!

It’s text time! Lyrics-inspired text time!

They say “falling bombs or shooting stars” by the way. My hand’s not that steady :(

The song these were inspired by is “IOU” by Metric. The actual lyrics are:

Every ten year old enemy soldier
Thinks falling bombs are shooting stars sometimes
But she doesn’t make wishes on them
When she wishes, she wishes for less ways to wish for
More ways to work toward it
Ten year old enemy soldier
Our falling bombs are her shooting stars

So much love for this song!

What I used:
Rescue Beauty Lounge– No More War
Nubar– Marble Tower
Sally Hansen– Diamonds & Rubies and Yellow Kitty
Hard Candy– Trailer Trash

I got new polishes! Yay!

However, I’m very attached to my current mani, so I thought I’d play with the new colors on some practice nails.

This is Nubar’s Cabernet. I’m not going to lie, I bought it specifically because it looks bloody, and I don’t have a good nail polish blood. I meant to do only one blood nail, but I was having too much fun.

Then I got to all of the other colors. :) If these weren’t all massively wide nails, I would consider wearing them together, which would be ridiculous, but they’re kind of like… I don’t know, different garments from a single fashion collection. In other words, they use the same seven colors.

Anyway, I do kind of want to replicate some of these designs in an actual manicure. You know, once I’m able to part with the one I’ve got now.

What I used:
Nubar– Cabernet, Cozumel Coral, Pharaoh’s Purple, Marble Tower and Taffeta
China Glaze– Wagon Trail and Peachy Keen
a variety of dotting tools

Ugh, busiest week ever! And not particularly productive either. >:(

Whatever, though. I got new polish! Yay! So, figured I’d try them out. Something basic. :)

What I used:
China Glaze– Classic Camel and Ingrid (love love LOVE both of these colors)
Rescue Beauty Lounge– Medium White (I don’t know why I felt like I needed this. It’s a lovely color, but lord is it a pain in the ass. So sheer.)
Nubar– Stronghold
Orly– Liquid Vinyl

Inspired by a Sophy Robson (naturally) nail tutorial (which you can find HERE) called “Grown Up Glitter”. Same idea, but decidedly less grown up colors. :)

What I used:
Nubar– Forest, Fortress, and Milk Chocolate Creme
China Glaze– Zombie Zest and Ick-A-Bod-Y
Sephora– My Favorite Jeans
OPI– Absolutely Alice
Sinful Colors– Queen of Beauty
Orly– Liquid Vinyl
Claire’s– Galaxy

P.S. I really wish I had a brown glitter polish. Does anyone know of one?

Look! A Hidden Treasure appreciation post! (Because of course this polish needs more appreciation :P )

What I used:
Nubar– Stronghold
Sally Hansen– Hidden Treasure

Happy valentines day, everyone!
