Dragon fruit on acid!
I’ve done fruit nails before, but never on myself. Dragon fruit is obviously the coolest of all fruits, so I thought “Yes! This’ll be perfect for my first fruit manicure!” But then I was mesmerized by all the colors and this ended up being more colorful rings than fruit. Oh well. Some day I’ll do a proper fruit manicure…

These were my Halloween nails last year. I occasionally do special effects makeup, and I wanted to recreate some of the nastier effects on my nails. The results were mixed, but they were definitely pretty gross looking. I actually put flesh latex on my nails, which worked really well for the tearing, but I think it was more trouble than it was worth. I ended up painting over the latex since it’s kind of sheer. I imagine you could get a similar tearing effect by painting on a really thick layer of polish, waiting for it to dry some, and then poking it around with a toothpick or something.

What I used:
flesh latex
tiny half pearls (for the bumps)
CND– Perfectly Bare
Nubar– Cabernet
Illamasqua– Throb
Probably a couple other reds and pinks
A shiny topcoat for the blood and a matte topcoat for the skin.

And just for fun, here’s the makeup I wore on Halloween. I was an evil witch!

So there’s nothing particularly special about this manicure, except for the fact that this is one of those polishes that I feel the need to show off. Mostly because it is magic in a bottle. Also because it’s apparently the holy grail of nail polishes.

Funny thing is, the only reason that I own this is because my friend’s mom (who is also a polish lover) gave it to me because it was “too wild” for her.

Anyway, it really is a rainbow in a bottle, and it’s very distracting in the sun. I like it a little better over other colors than on its own, which is why it looks so dark. :)

It’s text time! Lyrics-inspired text time!

I got new polishes! Yay!

However, I’m very attached to my current mani, so I thought I’d play with the new colors on some practice nails.

This is Nubar’s Cabernet. I’m not going to lie, I bought it specifically because it looks bloody, and I don’t have a good nail polish blood. I meant to do only one blood nail, but I was having too much fun.

Then I got to all of the other colors. :) If these weren’t all massively wide nails, I would consider wearing them together, which would be ridiculous, but they’re kind of like… I don’t know, different garments from a single fashion collection. In other words, they use the same seven colors.

Anyway, I do kind of want to replicate some of these designs in an actual manicure. You know, once I’m able to part with the one I’ve got now.
